MOTOA’s Sourcing Outside China Tour: August 2021

Pretty much every month, other than July and December - when Americans tend to have tighter schedules due to family holidays - MOTOA is out and about in the US interfacing with new, old and potential clients to see what we can do to move supply chains out of China and into less risky locales like India, Vietnam, Thailand and more.

This month, in late August, we will be on site around the following cities:

• Chicago, IL
• Detroit, MI
• Toledo, OH
• Cleveland, OH
• Columbus, OH
• Fort Wayne, IN
  

 On these visits, we will be meeting to discuss sourcing and supply chain projects related to:

• Material handling parts out of India and Vietnam, ranging from big cast counterweights all the way down to finely machined transmission components.
• Railway materials out of India and Thailand, from AREMA spec manganese fasteners on up through cast and machined parts for the trains and cars that run on the rails.
• Automotive castings from India, including specialized nylon castings as well as standard metal castings with extensive coating, testing and finishing requirements.
• Food and beverage system component parts from Thailand, both machined from billet as well as cast and machined.
• Industrial and agricultural bearings and fasteners out of Taiwan, Vietnam and Eastern Europe.
• A bunch of other stuff that gets too boring to read, but that we’re happy to talk about.
  

Our trips stay pretty booked up, because spot rates FCL in East Asia are upwards of $16,000 USD these days, with heavy delays, and when you add in tariffs, metal price surges, the disappearance of Chinese metal rebates, pandemic slowdowns and just about everything else that’s ramped up in the last year, a lot of people who were waiting, hoping for business with China to clear up hit a wall.

We’ve seen the writing on the wall for years, and we’ve been helping transition supply chains for years as your boots on the ground in countries outside of China. We’re here to help.
